Waiting

Waiting for the mixdown, the video to finish saving, and youtube to upload week 6.1.  Just thought I'd give some background on project status.  I'm happy with Erase and Swallow the way they are (premastering), I'm rerecording Bleed, Muse and Don't Go.  Bleed is a little too slow, and a few of the verses aren't right.  Muse needs to be uptempo by like 10bpm, one less chorus and the second verse is rewritten.  But on my rerecords I can't seem to get the layering right.  Don't Go is getting a rerecord on vocals and some minor changes.
I'm working on two new songs as well, which are about half written, and only basics are recorded.

After the initial writing process and recording of a draft version, I spend months thinking about it, listening to it, changing little things that aren't quite right, rewriting lyrics, and just poking and prodding the bits that aren't what they should be.

Inspiration hits me like lightning, a manic and all-consuming frenzy where I try desperately to keep up with the ideas crumbling out of my head.  It pours out like warm light from a cracked door.  Sometimes I catch it; sometimes I play until my fingers bleed in an attempt to recapture what I just had a grip on, but fluttered so effortlessly away.  It is equal parts crushing and affirming, and leaves me reeling every time.
